Collapsible content

Analyte Description Method/Chemistry Standard/Equivalance
pH Taylor pH tests provide pinpoint accuracy to help ensure balanced water for a clear and comfortable swimming experience. Proprietary 6.4, 6.8, 7.2, 7.8, 8.4
Chlorine, Free Free chlorine is the active form of chlorine available to disinfect water and eliminate contaminants. Taylor Free Chlorine tests provide precise measurements to ensure adequate levels for effective sanitization. Proprietary 0, 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 ppm chlorine (Cl₂)
Alkalinity, Total Total alkalinity represents the concentration of bicarbonates, carbonates, and hydroxides that buffer pH changes in water. This test determines alkalinity levels to ensure stability and prevent sudden fluctuations in pH. Proprietary 0, 40, 80, 120, 180, 240 ppm total alkalinity as CaCO₃
Cyanuric Acid Sunlight can strip chlorine of its effectiveness. Monitor chlorine stabilizer levels with Taylor Cyanuric Acid tests for optimal sanitization. Proprietary 0, 40, 70, 100, 150, 300 ppm CYA
Hardness, Total Essential for balanced water and long-lasting equipment performance, this reagent measures the amount of calcium and magnesium in the water. Proprietary 0, 100, 200, 400, 800 ppm total hardness as CaCO₃
Chlorine, Total Total chlorine is the sum of free chlorine and combined chlorine, which includes chlorine that has already reacted with contaminants. This test accurately quantifies both forms to provide a comprehensive evaluation of chlorine presence in the water. Proprietary 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10 ppm chlorine (Cl₂)
Bromine, Total For pools and spas that use bromine instead of chlorine, you can be certain there's enough disinfectant to keep the water clean. Proprietary 0, 1, 2, 4, 10, 20 ppm bromine (Br₂)

Great test strips

Good pool/spa test strips. I compared the readings from these strips against a liquid drop test, which is generally accepted as a more precise method of testing, and the strips were reading nearly identical to the drop test results. So these work great for quickly testing you chemical levels. Just be sure to store them in a controlled environment (inside preferably) since strips can spoil easily if improperly stored.

Fast and accurate

I picked these up to use along with my standards Taylor liquid reagent kit. This allows me to make quick tests for pool chemical levels. It's fast and accurate. I compared it to my liquid tests and the results were very close. Obviously if you want more precise readings, you will want the liquid drop tests, but this is great for quick check without the need to get out all the testing supplies.

Taylor S-1403, Pool and Spa Test Strips 50 Ct

These are better than the no-brand "7-in-1" pool test strips I've gotten through Vine. The resultant exposed colors are actually on the indicator chart unlike most of those, LOL.I trust these more for quick checks, following up with the drop test or pool store analysis if something is especially off.

Taylor is the best brand if you are going to use strips

I've not been a fan of test strips but as soon as I saw that these were Taylor I knew they were going to be good quality and easy to read. The Taylor test kit is still the best option, but when I'm maintaining the pool over the winter months and there's not much pool use, these are great for ease and speed along with accurate reading for my current needs.

Works fine with my pool, matches more accurate titration type tests

I'm a big fan of test strips for maintaining pool chemical balance. They are quick and pretty accurate. While nothing beats using a titration type test for accuracy, test strips are accurate enough to daily checking. These test strips worked fine with my pool. You have to be careful to follow the directions to get an accurate reading, however.I take some extra precautions, like avoiding touching the test patterns on the strip with my fingers, holding the strip only by the plastic part. I also make sure not to store the test strip bottle in bright light because the accuracy depends on a color match to the color chart on the bottle. Once that chart fades or looses color to any degree and there goes your accuracy.I like that these strips support checking Cyanuric Acid, as the titration kits are very expensive and hard to use.I'm happy with these strips. Would be nice to get a higher quantity in the bottle though. There are only 50 strips in each bottle.
