PRODUCTION DEPARTMENTS - Test Strip, Kit Assembly, Bottling and Plastics 

FLSA: Non-exempt full-time (Overtime eligible) - Positions available day and second shift

Position opening and closing dates: September 3, 2020 - Positions Open Until Filled - Multiple Positions

Position Summary:

Set-up, load, assemble, label, pack or package; by hand or machine, a wide variety of products and materials for shipment or storage. Perform sample quality inspections and input and retrieve data within an ERP system (Production Management Information Technology database/system).


Duties and Responsibilities:

        • Accurately read, interpret and execute job instructions. Document activities as directed.
        • Set-up, load raw materials, operate and monitor production line operations to ensure even product flow
        • Inspect samples to validate quality standards. Remove, separate, document and report defective materials
        • Label, package and/or palletize finished product for storage or shipment as required.
        • Assist with training and directing temporary labor to execute production activities.
        • Perform basic operator preventive maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure non-stop production. Report defective equipment to appropriate leader.
        • Monitor materials levels. Resupply the production line. Timely restock to avoid disruption.
        • Perform additional duties as required and work extended hours when necessary.

 
Requirements:

Education:  Minimum education of a high school diploma or equivalent

Certification/License:  Able to certify to operate industrial trucks (forklifts)

Experience:  Minimum three (3) years’ experience in production assembly/packaging line operation. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge:  English fluency, good mechanical reasoning aptitude and proficient basic math skills.

Skills: Proficient computer skills to navigate windows-based systems. 

        • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to operate Program Logic Controller (PLC) screens and input and retrieve date using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
        • Ability to operate powered and non-powered industrial trucks and materials handling and packaging equipment. Ability to control the operation of equipment or systems.
        • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
        • Must be able to work safely and maintain a clean and organized work are at all time.

Abilities:  Able to work independently and in team environments with minimal supervision after training. 

        • Possess good interpersonal skills and emotional control.
        • Promotes and influences others to achieve a harmonious high functioning team.
        • Must be able to work at a steady pace, while maintaining attention to detail, high accuracy/thoroughness.
        • Able to meet reasonable deadlines and adapt to frequent job order changes as necessary.
        • Able to problem solve and make enhancements applying use continuous process improvement techniques.


Physical Abilities:
  Possess visual clarity within 10 feet of the observer. 

        • Ability to frequently and quickly distinguish between similar numbers and symbols.
        • Possess finger/manual dexterity, and arm-hand steadiness to quickly/precisely grasp/manipulate
        • Regularly required to stand and walk continuously. For up to 10 hours, may use fingers, hands, arms, legs and feet to feel, handle grip, grasp, lift, operate, push or pull.
        • Safely lift by hand objects weighing up to 50 lbs carry objects up to 25lbs & push 2,000 lbs.

Assist the Department Manager to plan, organize, set-up and perform the daily work activities of the specific production department. Train and lead full-time and temporary workers. Monitor, resolve/report production and personnel progress/problems & document work completion.

        • Work directly with Department Manager to plan, organize and conduct work activities.
        • Train and lead other Production Workers and temporary Packagers to meet work demands
        • Continually update Department Manager on production & personnel progress/problems.

Position Summary:

The Industrial Accounts Manager is the primary contact for Taylor’s industrial-market customers. This position will maintain contact with current industrial customers in order to promote the Taylor image, ensure customer satisfaction, cross-sell other Taylor products and services, and grow account sales. This position will also develop opportunities with prospect companies to create new sales.

Position Summary:

Operate or tend machines to prepare industrial or consumer products for storage or shipment. These machines manufacture liquids, powders or solid materials for use as is or as part of a larger kit or assembly.


Duties and Responsibilities:

        • Read, interpret and execute instructions to create consistently accurate chemical mixtures.
        • Set-up, load with raw materials, operate, adjust and troubleshoot machines.
        • Monitor product through the production cycle and perform sampling inspections to validate quality standards. Remove, separate, document and report defective materials/products.
        • Monitor the production line to eliminate jams or gaps and ensure even flow of the product.
        • Assemble product components to create a single finished product.
        • Label, package and/or palletize finished product for storage or shipment as required.
        • Document work completion via paperwork and computer entry.
        • Perform operator preventive maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure non-stop production. Report defective equipment to appropriate leader.
        • Monitor materials levels. Resupply the machine and initiate resupply notification in a timely manner to avoid work-stoppage.
        • Work with Purchasing Manager to maintain appropriate inventory levels.

Requirements:

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT - Regulatory Compliance Chemist - Exempt-Full-Time

Supervisor: Vice President of Research and Development/Engineering

Position Summary:

The Regulatory Compliance Chemist will fulfill all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH), Global Harmonization System (GHS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT),  Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), and Canada’s Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).  The Regulatory Compliance Chemist will also chair the Safety Committee, manage hazardous waste disposal, and be the contact for all government regulatory interactions. Additionally, this chemist will work on the design, development and improvements of analytical products, techniques and methodologies.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT - Chemist III - Exempt-Full-Time

Supervisor: Manager, Product Development

Position Summary:

The purpose of the Senior Research Chemist is to design experiments and develop new products for testing pool, spa, and industrial water. This position will statistically analyze and interpret all experimental data and use information form analysis to brainstorm and establish a work flow for the next steps in the experiment design process. The position must engage in method development. The position independently researches, designs, and solves problematic experiments and develops an efficient workflow for experimental design. The incumbent also works in teams and mentors more junior scientists.


Duties and Responsibilities:

        • Train new employee on common Taylor-specific laboratory tasks
        • Prepare stock solutions, reference standards, and reagents with analytical precision with the knowledge of how to eliminate sources of error
        • Document and organize all experimental data in a detailed laboratory notebook so that all research being conducted is easily followed by other team members
        • Research potential chemical additives and inhibitors to optimize test performance
        • Assist in the authoring of new Safety Data Sheets
        • Perform experiments at the direction of the project manager and assist with the analytical methods,  development of new materials and performance testing in the lab and in the field
        • Perform detailed data analyses and explain results
        • Document and present technical work internally and externally
        • Work on projects both independently and as part of a team

 
Requirements:

        • 4-year degree in Chemistry or
        • 10 years of chemistry related experience which includes demonstrable experience in a laboratory environment.
        • Experiences in analytical chemistry, method development and experimental design.
        • Experience working collaboratively with a team.
        • Strong presentation and communication skills
        • Robust understanding of MS Office
        • Candidate may substitute master’s degree for up to 2 years of experience
