PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT - Assembler (Kit), Non-Exempt-Full-Time

Supervisor: Assembly Manager

Position opening and closing dates: May 11, 2020 – Position open until filled

Position Summary:

Assembles parts (bottles and materials) to complete kits at a bench or on conveyor line. Uses hand tools, and other special equipment. Reassembles or reworks units as required. Develops kits for direct customer sales or use at trade shows. The kit assembler may also be responsible for reviewing kits for Quality Control.  Must enter data into an ERP system as required.


Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assembles kits applying FIFO from Work Queue in an orderly and timely fashion.
    • Places reagents and bottles in appropriate places
    • Maintains accurate recordkeeping in Kit Log Book
    • Reviews assigned jobs in the ERP System (Epicor)
    • Resolve assembly problems by notifying the Department Manager
    • Quality Control parts based on Job Traveler BoM and Kit layout books
    • Maintain inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and request inventory transfers as  needed
    • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with safety procedures, rules and regulations.
    • Contributes to the team effort by working where needed in the plant
    • Must be able to work extended hours when required

 
Requirements/Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma/GED
    • 1-3 years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
    • Basic data entry skills
    • Ability to develop a functional level of use of a computerized job management system (ERP)
    • General mathematic knowledge
    • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Occasionally must be able to move/carry an object up to 250 lbs. 
    • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel.
    • Standing for long periods of time


Preferred Requirements:

    • Familiar with 5S principles

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT - Batch Maker (Chemmake) Test Strips - Non-Exempt-Full-Time

Supervisor: Assembly Manager

Position opening and closing dates: May 11, 2020 - Position Open Until Filled

Position Summary:

Responsible for working with the Assembly Manager to plan, prioritize and perform test strip batch preparation, coating, slitting and laminating of all material necessary to produce both Taylor and private label test strips. Follows Mixing procedures, checks batch quality per specifications, and initiates a secondary technician QC review.


Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Work with Assembly Manager to plan and prioritize test strip manufacturing
    • Prepare test strip chemicals for coating
    • Operate test strip manufacturing equipment
    • Interface with ERP system to ensure accurate inventory
    • Work with Purchasing Manager to maintain appropriate inventory levels

 
Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Associates degree in Chemistry, chemical engineering, a physical or biological science with several chemistry classes or equivalent related experience.
    • Must understand chemistry fundamentals
    • Lab or production experience a plus
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Computer skills a must
    • Able to perform under tight deadlines
    • Self-motivated
    • Impeccable organizational and cleanliness skills
    • Must be detail oriented

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT - Regulatory Compliance Chemist - Exempt-Full-Time

Supervisor: Vice President of Research and Development/Engineering

Position opening and closing dates: May 4, 2020 - Position Open Until Filled

Position Summary:

The Regulatory Compliance Chemist will fulfill all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH), Global Harmonization System (GHS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT),  Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), and Canada’s Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).  The Regulatory Compliance Chemist will also chair the Safety Committee, manage hazardous waste disposal, and be the contact for all government regulatory interactions. Additionally, this chemist will work on the design, development and improvements of analytical products, techniques and methodologies.

        • Emergency Action Plan and Company Safety Program
        • Employee Safety and Hazard Communication Training

        • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know
        • Toxic Release Inventory
        • Biennial Hazardous Waste Report
        • Hazardous Waste Disposal
        • General Permit for Discharges of Stormwater Associated with Industrial Activity
        • Air and Radiation Permit to Construct
        • Other EPA/MDE programs and reports
      • TTB
        • Specially Denatured Alcohol Permit
    • Develop compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and labels for products under OSHA, WHMIS, and CPSC
    • Administrative responsibilities
      • Author/Update regulatory documentation
      • Assist other departments and customers with technical matters
    • Chair Company Safety Committee
      • Set agenda, chair, and write/post minutes of monthly Company Safety Committee meetings
      • Communicate and coordinate safety issues to the company
      • Lead new safety initiatives
    • Product Development
      • Preparation of analytical test standard solutions.
      • Designing, developing or modifying wet and dry analytical methodologies, techniques, and products for monitoring water quality.


Requirements/Qualifications:

    • BS degree in Chemistry (or in a related field)
    • 2 years related experience
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT - Chemist III - Exempt-Full-Time

Supervisor: Manager, Product Development

Position opening and closing dates: January 27, 2020 - Position Open Until Filled

Position Summary:

The purpose of the Senior Research Chemist is to design experiments and develop new products for testing pool, spa, and industrial water. This position will statistically analyze and interpret all experimental data and use information form analysis to brainstorm and establish a work flow for the next steps in the experiment design process. The position must engage in method development. The position independently researches, designs, and solves problematic experiments and develops an efficient workflow for experimental design. The incumbent also works in teams and mentors more junior scientists.


Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Train new employee on common Taylor-specific laboratory tasks
    • Prepare stock solutions, reference standards, and reagents with analytical precision with the knowledge of how to eliminate sources of error
    • Document and organize all experimental data in a detailed laboratory notebook so that all research being conducted is easily followed by other team members
    • Research potential chemical additives and inhibitors to optimize test performance
    • Assist in the authoring of new Safety Data Sheets
    • Perform experiments at the direction of the project manager and assist with the analytical methods,  development of new materials and performance testing in the lab and in the field
    • Perform detailed data analyses and explain results
    • Document and present technical work internally and externally
    • Work on projects both independently and as part of a team

 
Requirements:

    • 4-year degree in Chemistry or
    • 10 years of chemistry related experience which includes demonstrable experience in a laboratory environment.
    • Experiences in analytical chemistry, method development and experimental design.
    • Experience working collaboratively with a team.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills
    • Robust understanding of MS Office
    • Candidate may substitute master’s degree for up to 2 years of experience
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs ( move)

 
Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree
    • Water quality testing experience ( OR Pool/Spa Industry Experience)
